New Windsor is found on the eastern edge of Mercer County. Its eastern border is also the line for Henry County.

Illinois Route 17 runs right through the village. It serves as the main street. If you travel west on this road, you will reach Viola in about 7 miles. The Mercer county seat, Aledo, is about 16 miles away. If you go east-southeast, you will find Woodhull in about 8 miles. This road also connects to Interstate 74.

Other water flows north into a stream that leads to Parker Run. Parker Run then goes north to the Edwards River.
