Windthorst is a small town in Texas, United States. It is located in Archer and Clay counties. Windthorst is part of the larger Wichita Falls area. In 2020, about 342 people lived there. The town gets its name from Ludwig Windthorst, who was an important Catholic leader in Germany.

Windthorst is also known for the St. Mary's Grotto. This is an outdoor shrine for Roman Catholics. It was built with money sent by 64 soldiers from Windthorst who served in World War II. All 64 of these soldiers returned home safely. A new entrance to the shrine was built in 2009.

Windthorst is in northern Texas. Most of the town is in Archer County, but a small part extends into Clay County. U.S. Route 281 goes right through the middle of town. This road leads north about 25 miles (40 km) to Wichita Falls. It also goes southeast about 33 miles (53 km) to Jacksboro.

Another road, Texas State Highway 25, goes west from Windthorst. It leads about 11 miles (18 km) to Archer City. Archer City is the main town for Archer County.

The total area of Windthorst is about 2.56 square miles (6.6 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, and a small part is water.
