Winn is a small town located in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. It sits on the eastern side of the Penobscot River. The town was named after John M. Winn, who was an early owner of land there. In 2020, the town had a population of 399 people.
History of Winn
Winn has a brief but interesting history. A large company from Boston called Henry Poor & Son once owned a tannery in Winn. A tannery is a place where animal skins are turned into leather. Unfortunately, this tannery burned down in 1892. This event caused the company to go out of business.
