Winnaleah is a small rural town in the north-east of Tasmania, Australia. It's part of the Dorset Council area.
Winnaleah is located about 38 kilometers (24 miles) northeast of the town of Scottsdale. In 2016, about 225 people lived in Winnaleah.
The town has several community spots. These include a swimming pool run by locals, a post office, and a hotel. There's also a produce store, a district high school (for students from prep to grade 10), a church, and a community shop. You can also find a special ANZAC bell that serves as a memorial.
History of Winnaleah
Winnaleah officially became a recognized place in 1969. The name "Winnaleah" is thought to come from an Aboriginal word. This word means "fire."
The Winnaleah Post Office first opened its doors on October 1, 1912. This was an important step for the community.
The Winnaleah Hotel was built and opened in 1927. A man named William Whitmore was responsible for building it. He moved his hotel license from the Esplanade Hotel in Moorina to his new Winnaleah Hotel on November 25, 1927.

Getting Around Winnaleah
A main road, Route A3, also known as the Tasman Highway, goes through the south-east part of Winnaleah. From this highway, Winnaleah Road leads directly into the town.
