Wolfgang Weber (born June 26, 1944) is a famous German former footballer. He played as a defender, which means he helped protect his team's goal. Wolfgang Weber is especially remembered for scoring a very important goal in the 1966 World Cup final for West Germany.

Playing Football
Wolfgang Weber was a central defender for the football club 1. FC Köln. He played in 356 Bundesliga matches for them. One of his most famous moments happened in 1966 at Wembley.
The 1966 World Cup Goal
In the 1966 FIFA World Cup final, Weber scored a goal in the very last moments of the game. This goal made the score 2–2 against England. Even though England went on to win 4–2 in extra time, Weber's goal was a memorable moment.
Weber played for 1. FC Köln from 1963 to 1978. He also played 53 games for his country, West Germany. He scored only one other goal for his national team. He also represented West Germany in the 1968 European Championships and the 1970 World Cup. His last game for West Germany was in 1974.
Life After Playing
After his playing career, Wolfgang Weber became a coach. From 1978 to 1980, he coached the Bundesliga team Werder Bremen.
Helping Others
In his retirement, Weber has been involved with the German branch of the Special Olympics. This organization helps athletes with intellectual disabilities compete in sports.
