Chronology
Preceded by Xiaolin Showdown

Xiaolin Chronicles is an exciting animated TV show from America and France. It continues the story of Xiaolin Showdown, another popular series. The show first aired on August 26, 2013, with a special preview of three episodes. The full series officially started on September 14, 2013.

This series was made by ActionFliks Media Corporation, working with a French studio called Genao Productions. The first twenty episodes were shown on Disney XD until March 6, 2014. The last six episodes were not shown in the United States until July 1, 2015, when they became available on Netflix.

Christy Hui, the creator of the show, announced in 2015 that Xiaolin Chronicles would not have a second season. It was planned as a single, complete story. However, she also mentioned that a new Xiaolin project would be made, similar to the original Xiaolin Showdown series.

How the Show Was Made

This show was created in both France and the United States. Christy Hui was the executive producer, meaning she helped lead the whole project. The regular parts of the show use 2D animation, which looks like traditional cartoons. But for the special "Xiaolin Showdown" scenes, they used CGI (computer-generated imagery), which makes things look 3D.

The show also has new designs for the characters. The logo for the show was changed a little too. Most of the original voice actors from Xiaolin Showdown were replaced. Only Tara Strong (who voices Omi and Ping Pong) and Jennifer Hale (who voices Kimiko, Katnappe, and Willow) returned. This happened because of money and scheduling issues. Also, all the magical items called Shen Gong Wu had to be given new names. This is because Warner Bros. Animation was not involved in this new series. They still own the rights to the old names. A company called Sunwoo Entertainment also helped with some of the animation.

What's the Story?

In Xiaolin Chronicles, Omi, Kimiko, and Clay have become Shoku Warriors. Raimundo was already a Shoku Warrior before them. Their job is to find and collect special magical items called Shen Gong Wu. They must get them before the evil Heylin forces do.

A new recruit from Europe joins them. His name is Ping Pong. He competes with a mysterious girl named Willow to become the next Xiaolin Apprentice. During the first episodes, the monks find out that Willow is actually evil. She is the student of a powerful Heylin warrior named Chase Young. Willow and Chase destroy the monks' temple and steal all the Shen Gong Wu.

With their temple gone, the monks must find a new home. They also need to keep collecting the Shen Gong Wu. And, of course, they must protect the world from Chase Young and the villainous Jack Spicer.

Meet the Characters

  • Omi (voiced by Tara Strong) - He is the Xiaolin Dragon of Water. His special Shen Gong Wu is the Orb of Torpedo. His main attack, "Shoku Neptune Water," lets him control water. Omi is the most skilled monk, but he can be a bit proud. He sometimes brags and gets jealous if someone does better than him. Because he grew up in a sheltered way, he sometimes misunderstands modern sayings.
  • Raimundo Pedrosa (voiced by Eric Bauza) - He is the Xiaolin Dragon of Wind, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His special Shen Gong Wu is the Sword Of Lucida. His main attack, "Shoku Astro Wind," lets him fly and blow enemies away. Raimundo can be a bit lazy and makes quick decisions. But he is a great planner and cares a lot about his friends.
  • Kimiko Tohomiko (voiced by Jennifer Hale) - She is the Xiaolin Dragon of Fire, from Tokyo, Japan. Her special Shen Gong Wu is the Kanabi Star. Her main attack, "Shoku Mars Fire," lets her create big fireballs. Kimiko can be short-tempered and stubborn. She doesn't like feeling unimportant. But she is also kind and loving to her friends. She loves technology and fashion.
  • Clay Bailey (voiced by David Kaye) - He is the Xiaolin Dragon of Earth, from Texas in the United States. His special Shen Gong Wu is the Fist of the Iron Bear. His main attack, "Shoku Jupiter Earth," lets him create cracks in the ground or break rocks. Clay is gentle despite his large size. He often finds simple ways to solve hard problems.
  • Ping Pong (voiced by Tara Strong) - He is the fifth monk chosen at the Xiaolin Temple, the Xiaolin Dragon of Wood. Ping Pong is the first new character in this series. He looks like a younger Omi, with big green glasses. His real name is very long, so Omi calls him "Ping Pong." Omi calls him his "little gecko." Ping Pong grew up in Europe, delivering messages quickly to monasteries. He heard stories of the Xiaolin monks and wanted to join them. His main skills are his speed and quick moves.
  • Dojo Kanojo Cho (voiced by Michael Donovan) - Dojo is a Chinese dragon who can change his size. He helps the Xiaolin Warriors travel and gives them advice. He often shows affection for Master Fung.
  • Master Fung (voiced by Michael Donovan) - He is a wise old master who trains and guides the Xiaolin Warriors. He gives them advice to help them with their problems.
  • Chase Young (voiced by David Kaye) - He is the main bad guy. Chase is an evil warrior who lives forever. He wants to destroy the Xiaolin Monks and create a Heylin Empire. He created Shadow and they have a special connection.
  • Shadow (voiced by Jennifer Hale) - Shadow is the second new character in the show. She is a dark spy who works for Chase Young. She often thinks Jack and Chase are not evil enough. She can hide in shadows and talk to Chase Young with her mind. When the Xiaolin monks first met her, she pretended to be a normal girl named Willow. She and Ping Pong competed to be the top Xiaolin Apprentice. Kimiko became suspicious and found out Willow was Shadow.
  • Wuya (voiced by Cree Summer) - She was once the most powerful and evil Heylin Witch. Grand Master Dashi defeated her and trapped her in a puzzle box for 1,500 years. Jack Spicer released her. Wuya needs him to collect Dashi's Shen Gong Wu to rule the world again. She wants to bring 10,000 years of darkness. She often makes fun of Jack. Shadow helps her return to her human form.
  • Jack Spicer (voiced by Eric Bauza) - He calls himself an "Evil Boy Genius" and wants to rule the world. Jack is usually clumsy and not very good at being evil, but he never gives up. He sometimes calls himself an "evil entrepreneur." He sometimes helps the Xiaolin Monks, but he tries hard to impress Chase Young.
  • Katnappe (voiced by Jennifer Hale) - A criminal who looks like a cat. She is one of Jack Spicer's friends.
  • Tubbimura (voiced by Eric Bauza) - A ninja who is big but very quick. He is another one of Jack Spicer's friends.
  • Cyclops - A giant with one eye. He is also one of Jack Spicer's friends.
  • Tiny Sim/Weaselnator (voiced by Tara Strong) - A young villain who looked up to Jack. He wanted to learn from the "evil genius." But when he got the Rooster Booster Shen Gong Wu, he turned against Jack. Before meeting Jack, Tiny Sim was in charge of the Online Jack Fanclub.
  • Pandabubba (voiced by Eric Bauza) - A crime boss who looks like a panda.
  • Salvador Cumo (voiced by David Kaye) - A charming but tricky criminal. He can turn into a Komodo dragon and grow back lost body parts. He used to be friends with Wuya and seems to have a secret connection to Chase Young.
  • Warden (voiced by Eric Bauza) - A crazy game show host. Chase Young called him to stop the Xiaolin Monks from getting The Mask of The Green Monkey.
