Early Life and Music Start
Nicholas Simmons was born on December 18, 1999, in Birmingham, Alabama. He grew up with his mom, cousins, and aunt. He went to Clay-Chalkville High School but later left to focus on his music career. He did finish school in May 2018.
Nicholas became interested in music when he was 14. He got an Xbox 360 for Christmas. He played video games like Rock Band and Grand Theft Auto V. He started making videos of his gameplay for YouTube. While playing Grand Theft Auto V, he would freestyle rap with friends online. This helped him practice his rapping skills.
Music Career Highlights
Nicholas uploaded his first song to YouTube when he was 15. It was called "Hood Mentality" and was with another YBN member, YBN Almighty Jay. He released more songs and two mixtapes in early 2017.
"Rubbin Off the Paint" Goes Viral
On September 18, 2017, Nicholas released "Rubbin Off the Paint". He put the song on WorldStarHipHop's YouTube channel. The song quickly became a viral hit, meaning it spread very fast online. Nicholas said it "blew up overnight." Because of the song's success, he started taking online classes instead of going to school. The song became very popular on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Later in 2017, there was a problem with the music rights for "Rubbin Off the Paint." His manager had sold the beat to someone else. To fix this, Nicholas now works with a producer from his own YBN group. He released six more songs that year.
More Hits and Record Deals
On January 23, 2018, Nicholas released "Bounce Out with That". This song also became very popular on YouTube, getting over 159 million views.
In April 2018, Nicholas signed a deal with Atlantic Records. He was also chosen as one of XXL's "2018 Freshman Class." This is a special group of new rappers to watch. He performed with other artists like Stefflon Don.
In July 2018, Nicholas announced a tour in Europe. He toured with Almighty Jay and Cordae. They visited countries like France, Germany, and Sweden. The YBN group also released a mixtape called YBN: The Mixtape in 2018. It featured other artists like Gucci Mane and MGK.
On March 22, 2019, he released "Baby 8." Then, on June 10, 2019, he released a music video for "Opp Stoppa."
His first full album, Visionland, came out on March 26, 2021.

Musical Style
YBN Nahmir says his music is influenced by rappers from the San Francisco Bay Area. He mentioned artists like E-40. In an interview, he explained that because there weren't many famous rappers from his hometown of Birmingham, he listened to more West Coast artists. These included legends like Eazy-E and Tupac.
Personal Life
Nicholas Simmons lives in Los Angeles, California. In 2018, he started a relationship with social media influencer Sahlt. They ended their relationship in 2021.
