Yannick Ferreira Carrasco (born on September 4, 1993) is a professional footballer from Belgium. He plays for the Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab and is also a key player for the Belgium national team. Yannick is a very flexible player. He can play in different positions like a left midfielder, left wing-back, left winger, or left-back.
Carrasco started his football journey with Monaco. There, he scored 20 goals in 105 games. He helped Monaco win Ligue 2 in his first season and finish second in Ligue 1 the next year. In 2015, he moved to the Spanish team Atlético Madrid for about €20 million. He scored an important goal in the 2016 UEFA Champions League final, though Atlético lost the match. After playing for two years with Dalian Professional in China, Carrasco returned to Atlético in 2020. He helped them win a La Liga title before moving to Al-Shabab in 2023.
Yannick Carrasco first played for the Belgium national team in April 2015. He has represented his country in the UEFA European Championship in 2016, 2020, and 2024. He was also part of the team that finished third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Early Life and Family
Yannick Carrasco was born in Vilvoorde, Belgium. His father is Portuguese, and his mother is Spanish. His mother, Carmen, raised him and his brother Mylan. He also has two younger half-siblings named Hugo and Celia. When he first started playing professionally, he was known as "Ferreira Carrasco." Later, he decided to use only "Carrasco." His mother's parents are from the Andalusia region in Spain. His grandmother is from Seville, and his grandfather is from Córdoba.
In 2017, Carrasco married Noémie Happart, who was a former Miss Belgium.
Playing for Clubs
Starting at Monaco
Carrasco joined Monaco from the Belgian club Genk in 2010. He played his first professional game on July 30, 2012. This was the first match of the Ligue 2 season against Tours. He scored the first goal in a 4–0 win with a free kick. On April 13, 2013, he scored both goals in a 2–0 league win against Auxerre. In his first season, he played 27 games and scored six goals. Monaco then earned promotion back to Ligue 1.
He scored his first goal in the top league on October 5, 2013, against Saint-Étienne. He helped Monaco win 2–1. Fifteen days later, he scored two goals in the first 10 minutes against Sochaux. That game ended in a 2–2 draw. Monaco finished their first season back in the top league as runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain.
On February 25, 2015, he scored the final goal in Monaco's 3–1 away win against Arsenal. This was in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
Joining Atlético Madrid
On July 10, 2015, Atlético Madrid announced they had signed Carrasco for five years. The transfer fee was reportedly €20 million. On October 18, he scored his first goal for Atlético in a 2–0 away victory over Real Sociedad.
On May 28, 2016, Carrasco came on as a substitute in the 2016 UEFA Champions League Final. He scored Atlético's equalizing goal in the 79th minute against Real Madrid. However, his team lost the match in a penalty shoot-out. He was the first Belgian player to score in a European Cup final.
On October 15, 2016, he scored his first professional hat-trick (three goals in one game) in a big 7–1 win against Granada CF.
Time in China
On February 26, 2018, Carrasco moved to the Chinese Super League team Dalian Yifang. This club was later renamed Dalian Professional. He made his debut on March 3 in a tough 8–0 loss to Shanghai SIPG. He scored his first goal for the club on March 31 in a 1–1 draw against Henan Jianye. This goal helped end his team's three-game losing streak at the start of the season.
Back to Atlético Madrid
On January 31, 2020, Carrasco returned to Atlético Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season. On September 8, 2020, he officially rejoined the club permanently, signing a four-year contract. On November 21, 2020, he scored the only goal in a 1–0 victory over Barcelona.
Moving to Al-Shabab
On September 4, 2023, Carrasco signed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab. The reported transfer fee was €15 million.
Playing for His Country
Carrasco made his first appearance for the senior Belgian national team in March 2015. He came on as a substitute in a 5–0 win over Cyprus during the UEFA Euro 2016 qualification matches. He was chosen by manager Marc Wilmots to be part of the squad for the main tournament. On June 26, in the Round of 16 in Toulouse, he scored his first international goal. This goal completed a 4–0 win over Hungary.
Manager Roberto Martínez included Carrasco in the Belgian squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He played in the first group stage victory against Panama. In that game, he played as an attacking left wing-back.
