Yannick Ferreira Carrasco (born 4 September 1993) is a professional footballer from Belgium. He plays for the Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab and is also a key player for the Belgium national team. Yannick is a very flexible player on the field. He can play as a left midfielder, a left wing-back, a left winger, or even a left-back.
Carrasco started his football journey with Monaco. There, he scored 20 goals in 105 games. He helped Monaco win Ligue 2 in his first season and finish second in Ligue 1 the next year. In 2015, he moved to the Spanish team Atlético Madrid. He scored an important goal in the 2016 UEFA Champions League final, though his team lost. After playing for Dalian Professional in China for two years, Carrasco came back to Atlético Madrid in 2020. He then helped them win a La Liga title. In 2023, he joined Al-Shabab.
Yannick Carrasco first played for the Belgian national team in April 2015. He has played in the UEFA European Championship in 2016, 2020, and 2024. He was also part of the Belgian squad that finished third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

About Yannick Carrasco's Early Life
Yannick Carrasco was born in Vilvoorde, Belgium. His father is Portuguese and his mother is Spanish. When Yannick was young, his father left the family. His mother, Carmen, raised him and his brother, Mylan. He also has two younger half-siblings named Hugo and Celia.
When he first started playing professionally, he was known as "Ferreira Carrasco." Later, he decided to use only "Carrasco," which is the part of his name from his mother's side. His grandparents on his mother's side are from the Andalusia region in Spain. His grandmother is from Seville, and his grandfather is from Córdoba.
In 2017, Yannick Carrasco married Noémie Happart, who was a former Miss Belgium.
Yannick Carrasco's Club Career
Playing for AS Monaco
Carrasco joined Monaco in 2010 from the Belgian club Genk. He played his first professional game on 30 July 2012. This was the first game of the Ligue 2 season against Tours. He scored the first goal in a 4–0 win with a free kick. On 13 April 2013, he scored both goals in a 2–0 win against Auxerre. In his first season, he played 27 games and scored six goals. Monaco then earned promotion back to Ligue 1.
His first goal in the top league came on 5 October 2013 against Saint-Étienne. He scored from a pass by James Rodríguez, helping Monaco win 2–1. Fifteen days later, he scored two goals in the first 10 minutes against Sochaux. That game ended in a 2–2 draw. Monaco finished their first season back in the top league as runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain.
On 25 February 2015, he scored the final goal in Monaco's 3–1 away win against Arsenal. This was in the first leg of the 2014–15 UEFA Champions League Round of 16. He came into the game as a substitute in the 75th minute.
Time at Atlético Madrid
On 10 July 2015, Atlético Madrid announced that Carrasco had joined their team. He signed a five-year contract. On 18 October, he scored his first goal for Atletico in a 2–0 away win against Real Sociedad.
On 28 May 2016, Carrasco played in the 2016 UEFA Champions League Final. He came on as a substitute at half-time. He scored Atlético's equalizing goal in the 79th minute against Real Madrid. However, his team lost the game in a penalty shoot-out. He was the first Belgian player to score in a European Cup final.
On 15 October 2016, he scored his first three goals in one game (a hat-trick) in a big 7–1 win over Granada CF.
Playing for Dalian Yifang
On 26 February 2018, Carrasco moved to Chinese Super League team Dalian Yifang. This club later changed its name to Dalian Professional. He played his first game on 3 March in an 8–0 loss. He scored his first goal for the club on 31 March. This was in a 1–1 away draw with Henan Jianye. This goal ended his team's three-game losing streak at the start of the season.
Returning to Atlético Madrid
On 31 January 2020, Carrasco came back to Atlético Madrid on a loan deal. This loan lasted until the end of the season. On 8 September 2020, he officially rejoined the club permanently. He signed a four-year contract. On 21 November 2020, he scored the only goal in a 1–0 victory over Barcelona.
Joining Al-Shabab
On 4 September 2023, Carrasco signed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab.
Yannick Carrasco's International Career

Carrasco made his first appearance for the senior Belgian national team in March 2015. He came on as a substitute in a 5–0 win over Cyprus. This was during the UEFA Euro 2016 qualification matches. He was chosen by manager Marc Wilmots to be in the squad for the main tournament. On 26 June, in the Round of 16, he scored his first goal for Belgium. This goal completed a 4–0 win over Hungary.
Manager Roberto Martínez included Carrasco in the Belgian squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He played in the first group stage game against Panama. In that game, he played as an attacking left wing-back.
