Yattalunga is a suburb located north of Adelaide, in South Australia. It's part of the City of Playford. You can find Yattalunga east of One Tree Hill. It sits between the Gawler–One Tree Hill Road and the South Para River. This road follows a ridge, separating the river gorge from the flat lands of the Adelaide Plains.
A large part of eastern Yattalunga is home to the beautiful Para Wirra Recreation Park.
The name 'Yattalunga' comes from an old homestead. It's believed to come from local Australian Aboriginal words. 'Yertala' or 'Yattala' means 'waterfall' or 'creek'. 'Unga' or 'nga' means 'place'. So, Yattalunga might mean 'place of the waterfall' or 'place by the creek'. This information comes from records by Norman Tindale in 1949.
