Just a little further downstream, these waters combine with the Alcovy River to form the main Ocmulgee River.

What's in a Name?

The name Yellow River comes from the native Creek language. The Creek people called it Coc-la-pauchee or Welauneehatchee. These names also mean "Yellow River." So, the English name is a direct translation of its original Native American name.
