Yemanzhelinsk (Russian: Еманжели́нск) is a town in Russia. It is the main town of the Yemanzhelinsky District. You can find it in the Chelyabinsk Oblast region.
The town is located near the border with Kazakhstan. It sits on the eastern side of the Southern Ural Mountains. Yemanzhelinsk is about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Chelyabinsk. Chelyabinsk is the biggest city in the region. In 2010, about 30,216 people lived in Yemanzhelinsk.
History of the Town
Yemanzhelinsk started as a small village in 1770. It was founded by Cossacks, who were a group of people known for their military skills. By 1866, it was called the stanitsa of Yemanzhelinskaya. A stanitsa is a type of Cossack village.
In the early 1930s, Yemanzhelinsk became important for coal mining. Many people moved there to work in the mines. Because it grew so much, it was officially made a town on September 25, 1951.
In 2013, a meteor exploded over Russia. Yemanzhelinsk was one of the towns closest to where the meteor blast happened.

Yemanzhelinsk is an important place for its area. It is the main administrative center for the Yemanzhelinsky District. This means many government offices for the district are located here.
The town of Yemanzhelinsk, along with three smaller villages, forms a special administrative area. This area is known as the Town of Yemanzhelinsk. For local government, the town is part of the Yemanzhelinskoye Urban Settlement. This settlement is within the larger Yemanzhelinsky Municipal District.
