Yuta Nakamoto (中本悠太, Nakamoto Yūta, born October 26, 1995), known as Yuta (Korean: 유타, Japanese: ユウタ), is a Japanese singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, and radio host. He lives and works in South Korea.
Yuta is a member of the popular South Korean boy group NCT. He first joined the group's sub-unit NCT 127 in 2016. Later, in 2020, he also became part of NCT U. Yuta started his solo music career on October 3, 2024, with his first music collection called Depth.

Yuta's Early Life
Yuta was born in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan, on October 26, 1995. He has two sisters, one older and one younger. He finished high school at Yashima Gakuen University International High School.
From age five to 16, Yuta played soccer. He dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player. However, he later decided to become an idol instead.
Yuta's Career Journey
Starting as a Trainee (2011–2015)
Yuta became interested in being an idol in 2011. This happened after he watched the group TVXQ on TV. He tried out for many auditions, even though he had no singing or dancing experience.
In 2012, he tried out for SM Entertainment's first global audition. He did this without his parents' permission. Out of 10,000 people, only three passed, and Yuta was one of them! When he was 16, he spent a month training in Seoul. On December 23, 2013, he joined SM Rookies. This was a special team of trainees at SM Entertainment.
As part of SM Rookies, Yuta appeared on a TV show called Exo 90:2014 in 2014. On the show, he danced to K-pop songs from the 1990s. He also helped remake music videos for old songs. In 2015, Yuta was on a show called Abnormal Summit. He was the Japanese representative on this show. He left the show in December 2015 to get ready for his debut.
Debuting with NCT 127 (2016–2019)
Yuta was in the first season of NCT's reality show, NCT Life. This show shared parts of the SM Rookies' pre-debut concert in Thailand. He also appeared in the second season of the show. In this season, members explored Seoul and completed fun tasks.
On July 2, 2016, Yuta was announced as a member of NCT. He joined the sub-unit NCT 127. They debuted with their song "Fire Truck" on July 6, 2016. A few days later, they released their first mini-album, NCT #127.
From November 2016 to January 2017, Yuta was on a TV show called Idol Party. On this show, comedians pretended to be his parents. He also helped host the 2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships special episode.
NCT 2020, Radio, and Acting (2020–2023)
In September 2020, NCT released their second studio album, NCT 2020 Resonance. Yuta was featured on several songs from this album.
On November 24, 2020, Yuta started hosting his own weekly radio show. It was called NCT 127 no: ユウタの YUTA at Home on InterFM897. The show helped promote NCT 127's second Japanese EP, Loveholic. This EP became very popular in Japan. In March 2021, his radio show became a regular program.
Since 2021, Yuta has appeared in many Japanese magazines. These include PMC, Ginger, Numéro Tokyo, GQ Japan, and Elle Japan. In June 2021, he worked with Tom Ford for their Neroli Portofino perfume.
In September 2022, Yuta started his acting career. He appeared in the movie High&Low The Worst X (Cross). In October 2022, Forbes Japan included Yuta on their 30 Under 30 list. In March 2023, it was announced that he would be in a live-action TV show. It was based on the web manga Play It Cool, Guys, which aired in April.
Solo Debut (2024)
On August 5, 2024, it was announced that Yuta would release his first solo music collection. This collection, an EP called Depth, was released on November 13. On October 3, the EP became available digitally. The music video for its main song, "Off the Mask," was also released.
Yuta started his first solo tour, "Hope," on October 5, 2024, in Fukuoka. He performed in five cities across Japan. The tour ended in his hometown, Kadoma, on October 27. To celebrate his solo debut, his photobook Now was released on October 17. Yuta released his first Japanese single, "Twisted Paradise," on May 14, 2025.
