Zachary Alexander Bagans (/ˈbeɪɡənz/ BAY-gənz; born April 5, 1977) is an American paranormal investigator, television personality, museum operator, and author. He is best known as the main host of the Travel Channel series Ghost Adventures. He also runs a museum filled with unusual and supposedly haunted items.

Early Life

Zak Bagans was born in Washington, D.C.. He grew up in a town called Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He finished high school at Glenbard West High School.

Career

Ghost Adventures TV Show

In 2004, Zak Bagans teamed up with Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin. They created a documentary film called Ghost Adventures. This film was shown on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2007.

A new TV series based on the film started in 2008. It aired on the Travel Channel. The show has been on for many seasons. Some people have questioned if everything shown on Ghost Adventures is real.

Haunted Museum

On April 2, 2016, a show called Deadly Possessions started on the Travel Channel. This show featured Zak Bagans looking for items for a "haunted museum." He wanted to open this museum in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The museum opened to the public in October 2017. It has 33 rooms filled with different artifacts. Visitors can take guided tours through these rooms. Some items on display include Bela Lugosi's mirror and the Dybbuk box. Peggy the Doll and Jack Kevorkian's "Death Van" are also there.

Some of the stories about these items have been questioned. For example, the history of the Lugosi mirror and the Captain Smith mirror in the museum has been debated. All visitors must sign a paper before entering. This paper says the museum is not responsible for any "spiritual or paranormal interactions."

In May 2019, an exhibit with a rocking chair from a famous "demon possession" case was temporarily closed. This happened after a visitor fainted. The exhibit reopened a few days later. In 2018, the museum won an award from the Las Vegas Mayor. This award was for preserving history and reusing an old building. In 2021, a part from actor James Dean's car, a Porsche 550 Spyder, was added to the museum's collection.

The Haunted Museum TV Series

In May 2021, the Discovery+ Channel announced a new show. It is a horror story series called The Haunted Museum. Zak Bagans is the host and one of the main producers for this show. The series is filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Toronto, Canada.

Books

Zak Bagans wrote a book with author Kelly Crigger. It was called Dark World: Into the Shadows with the Lead Investigator of the Ghost Adventures Crew. This book became a best-seller. It reached No. 18 on The New York Times Best Seller list on September 23, 2011.

In December 2019, Bagans released another book. It was titled Ghost-Hunting For Dummies. This book talks about the history of ghost-hunting. It also shares stories from Bagans' own investigations. It explains how people can start investigating the supernatural. There were some claims that parts of the book used material from other writers without permission. Bagans later settled these claims.
