Zilzie is right next to Emu Park. It sits on a beautiful part of the coast known as the Capricorn Coast. The town is about 685 kilometers (426 miles) northwest of Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland. It is also about 32 kilometers (20 miles) east of Rockhampton and 23.3 kilometers (14.5 miles) south of Yeppoon.

The Story Behind Zilzie's Name
Zilzie was named after Zilzie Point. This point is the northern part of the coastal area. The point itself was named after a property in the area. This property was owned by a man named Arthur Bootle Wilbraham. He created the name "Zilzie" by rearranging the letters of his wife's name, Lizzie Jardine. This is called an anagram.
Zilzie's Local Government History
Between 2008 and 2013, Zilzie and the rest of the Livingstone Shire were part of the Rockhampton Region. After 2013, the Livingstone Shire became a separate local government area again.
