Åsleik Audgar Engmark (born December 27, 1965 – died February 12, 2017) was a talented Norwegian comedian, actor, singer, and director. He was well-known for his funny performances, his work with the comedy group Lompelandslaget, and especially for being the Norwegian voice of Timon in Disney's The Lion King movies.

Åsleik Engmark's Career
Åsleik Engmark started his career in 1987. He helped create a Norwegian comedy group called Lompelandslaget. The next year, when he was 22, he performed on his own at Det Norske Teatret (The Norwegian Theatre) in Oslo. He was part of the original Norwegian cast of the famous musical Les Misérables. He worked at this theatre until 1999.
In the 1990s, Åsleik became very popular in Norway. He was often seen on the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), especially on a weekly comedy show called Egentlig. This show was similar to Saturday Night Live in other countries.
He was also famous for lending his voice to many animated movies. Kids especially knew him as the Norwegian voice of Timon from The Lion King.
Directing Movies
In 2009, Åsleik Engmark tried something new: he directed a children's movie! The movie was called Knerten, which means Twigson in English. This film was a huge success in Norway. More than 375,000 people watched it!
Knerten was shown at many film festivals, including the Berlinale in 2010. It won several awards at the Norwegian Film Awards, Amandaprisen. These awards included Best Children's movie, Best Art Design, and Best Visual Effects.
Dancing and Comedy
In 2010, Åsleik showed off another talent: dancing! He won the Norwegian version of Strictly Come Dancing, which is called Skal vi danse.
Åsleik was a very versatile artist. He performed comedy in both Norwegian and English. In 2001, he won the Norwegian Stå Opp-Prisen, which is an award for stand-up comedy.
Personal Life and Passing
Åsleik Engmark lived in Oslo for most of his life. In 1997, he married Helle Engmark. They later divorced in 2012.
Sadly, Åsleik Engmark passed away suddenly on February 12, 2017, while visiting family in Brussels. He was 51 years old.
