Important People and Events
In 1173, Saint Thomas Becket was officially recognized as a saint. This process is called Canonization. Thomas Becket was an important church leader who had been killed a few years earlier. He was buried in Canterbury, England.
A big family disagreement happened in England. Eleanor of Aquitaine and her sons started a rebellion against her husband, Henry II of England. This conflict is known as the Revolt of 1173–1174. It was a major challenge to the king's power.
