Major Events of 1228
The Sixth Crusade Begins
In 1228, the Sixth Crusade started. This was a big journey by European Christians to the Middle East. It was led by Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor. He had faced some delays because he was sick. Also, the Pope, Pope Gregory IX, had temporarily removed him from the Church. This was called an excommunication.
