- March 18: Sissinios became the official Emperor of Ethiopia. An Emperor is like a king or a powerful leader who rules a large country or empire.
- May 14: The Protestant Union was formed in a place called Auhausen. This was a group of Protestant states in Germany that joined together to protect their beliefs.
- July 3: The city of Quebec City in Canada was started by a French explorer named Samuel de Champlain. This was a big step in the history of Canada.
- August 24: The first official English person sent to represent England arrived in India at a place called Surat. This was the start of a long relationship between England and India.
- October 2: A Dutch lens maker named Hans Lippershey showed off the very first telescope to the Dutch government. A telescope is a tool that makes faraway things look closer, helping us see stars and planets better.
