Explorers and New Lands
- On June 23, the famous explorer Henry Hudson faced a difficult situation. His crew left him, his son, and seven other people in a small boat. This happened during his search for a Northwest Passage to Asia.
- In the new lands of America, Governor Sir Thomas Dale arrived in Jamestown. He brought new rules called "Laws Divine, Morall and Martial" to help organize the colony.
- Governor Dale also founded a new city called Henricus on the James River. This city was built a few miles south of where Richmond, Virginia is today.

- On November 1, a very famous play by William Shakespeare was performed for the first time. It was called The Tempest and was shown at Whitehall Palace in London.
