The 1955 Formula One season was the sixth year of the exciting Formula One racing championship. In this season, the famous driver Juan Manuel Fangio won the championship after a very close competition.

What is Formula One?

Formula One, often called F1, is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater racing cars. It is a very popular sport where drivers compete in races called Grand Prix. The goal is to win enough points over the season to become the World Champion.

The 1955 Formula One season had seven main races, known as Grand Prix events. Drivers earned points based on how well they finished in each race. The car manufacturers, also called "constructors," also competed to build the best cars.

Who Won the Championship?

The 1955 season was very exciting, and Juan Manuel Fangio from Argentina became the World Champion. He drove for the Mercedes team and won four of the seven races. Another top driver was Stirling Moss from the UK, who also drove for Mercedes and finished second overall.
