Member states

The APNPP stands for the Pan-African Non-Petroleum Producers Association. It is a group of 15 African countries. They joined together in July 2006 by signing a special agreement.

About the APNPP

The APNPP was created to help these countries work together. Their main goal is to promote the making of biofuels. Biofuels are cleaner fuels made from plants. They also want to help reduce the problems caused by high oil prices.

Why was the APNPP created?

Many African countries do not produce their own oil. This means they have to buy oil from other places. When oil prices are high, it can be very expensive for these countries. The APNPP helps them find other energy sources. It also helps them deal with the costs of oil.

Who are the APNPP members?

The idea for the APNPP was first suggested by Abdoulaye Wade. The group is led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines in Senegal. As of January 2008, Madické Niang was the acting head.
