The Story of A Fairly Odd Christmas
Timmy Turner (Drake Bell), along with his fairy godparents Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof, and his friend Tootie (Daniella Monet), travels the world. They use their magic to grant wishes for people everywhere.
Santa's Problem at the North Pole
A few days before Christmas, Santa Claus and his elves are checking their naughty and nice lists. Santa realizes that Timmy's wish-granting has caused a problem. Many names are now off the nice list because people are getting wishes from Timmy instead of Santa.
Two elves, Christmas Carol and Dingle Dave, visit Timmy and his friends. They tell them that Santa wants to talk to Timmy. When they arrive at Santa's workshop, Santa explains that Timmy needs to stop granting wishes. He reminds Timmy that with great power comes great responsibility.
Suddenly, an elf says the gift-wrapping machine is broken. Santa wishes for it to be fixed, and Timmy grants the wish. But fairy magic doesn't work inside elf-made buildings. The magic causes a big blast that makes Santa fall into the machine. He hits his head and starts acting confused, like the Easter Bunny! Because of this, the Christmas spirit drops, and the workshop stops working.
Timmy Becomes Santa?
Jorgen Von Strangle arrives and tells Timmy he must become Santa. The rules say that if a godchild harms a holiday icon so they can't do their job, the godchild must take over. Timmy puts on Santa's hat, and the workshop briefly gets its power back.
However, an elf explains that Timmy can't be Santa because he's on the naughty list. Cosmo, Wanda, Poof, and Jorgen can't help because fairy magic doesn't work at the North Pole. The elves say Timmy needs to talk to Elmer the Elder Elf to get off the naughty list. They warn him that the path to Elmer is very dangerous.
Timmy wants to go alone, but Tootie, his fairies, two elves, and even Mr. Crocker decide to join him. Mr. Crocker hopes to get his own name off the naughty list.
The Dangerous Journey to Elmer
The journey is tough, and the elves lose the way to Elmer. Timmy and Mr. Crocker get separated from the others in a snowstorm. Timmy's fairies, the elves, and Tootie find a penguin. Tootie believes the penguin knows the way to Elmer. The penguin guides them to a bridge that should lead them there.
Meanwhile, Timmy and Mr. Crocker meet some gingerbread men who offer to help. But Mr. Crocker, being hungry, bites off a gingerbread man's head! This makes the gingerbread men angry, and they chase Timmy and Crocker. The two eventually meet up with the others, and they escape, camping for the night.
The next day, they reach the bridge, which is badly damaged. The fairies help everyone cross. The gingerbread men catch up, and while trying to help Mr. Crocker, Timmy falls down. Everyone thinks it's the end, but Timmy gets up, safe and sound, thanks to some magic candy canes Santa gave him earlier.
Meeting Elmer and Saving Christmas
They finally reach Elmer's place. Timmy asks Elmer why he's on the naughty list when he's been granting wishes. Elmer explains that Timmy's fairies are doing the wishing, and Timmy's wishes are causing more harm than good. Elmer shows clips to prove his point.
Elmer refuses to take Timmy off the naughty list and leaves. Timmy and his friends are sad that they can't fix Christmas. But then, Mr. Crocker tells Timmy that he respects him for risking his life for Christmas. Elmer overhears this and is surprised that Timmy could even warm Mr. Crocker's heart! He changes his mind and takes Timmy's name off the naughty list. Timmy and the others use Elmer's vehicle to get back to the workshop.
They realize that without Christmas spirit, the Evil Winter Warlock (who represents negativity) has covered the whole planet. The elves explain that Timmy has a very small chance of saving Christmas now. Timmy quickly puts on Santa's clothes, which restores power to the workshop. He gives orders to everyone to prepare the gifts.
When the gifts are ready, they find that all the reindeer are missing! Mr. Crocker accidentally let them go while trying to hide. They decide to use the magic van instead. They barely make it through the Winter Warlock's icy wrath and manage to deliver all the presents.
Christmas Day Celebration
On Christmas Day, Santa returns to normal. He realizes that Timmy did all his work. After Santa puts on his own clothes, everyone celebrates. Even though Mr. Crocker didn't get off the naughty list, he gets his first-ever Christmas present: a new tie that looks just like his old one, which he loves! Timmy and Tootie share a kiss under the mistletoe. Poof flies up and says, "God bless us, everyone." Cosmo and Wanda then fly up. Wanda says, "No fairies were harmed in the making of this movie," but Cosmo jokes that he got a paper cut.
