Abul Hasan Jashori (born 1918, died 1993) was an important Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, politician, writer, and teacher. He also fought for freedom. He helped start and lead the Jamia Ezazia Darul Uloom Jessore school as its first principal and main teacher of Hadith studies.
Life and Education
Abul Hasan was born in 1918. His family was Bengali Muslim. They lived in a village called Bhabanipur in Harinakunda, which was part of Jessore District back then. His father's name was Janab Ali Bishwas.
He started his education at a local village school. Later, he went to Magura High School and then Magura College. In 1937, he moved to Delhi, India. There, he studied more about Islamic studies at two schools: Fatehpur Madrasah and Madrasah-e-Rahmatiyyah.
After six years in Delhi, he joined Darul Uloom Deoband. This is a very famous Islamic university. He learned from important teachers like Hussain Ahmed Madani and Shafi Usmani. He became an expert in Hadith studies, which is the study of the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad.
Career and Contributions
After finishing his studies, Abul Hasan Jashori returned to Bengal. In 1948, he became a Shaykh al-Hadith. This means he was a professor of Hadith studies. He taught at the Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom Khademul Islam school in Gawhardanga.
In 1959, a kind person named Chowdhury Altaf Husayn gave land to build a new school in Jessore. Abul Hasan was chosen to be its first principal and main Hadith teacher. He stayed in this role until he passed away. The school was named Jamia Ezazia Darul Uloom Jessore. It was named after his teacher, Izaz Ali Amrohi. After moving to Jessore, Abul Hasan became known as Abul Hasan Jashori.
In politics, Abul Hasan Jashori first supported the All-India Muslim League. Later, in 1945, he joined the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party. In 1967, he became the vice-president of this party. He held this position until his death.
During the Bangladesh Liberation War, he spoke publicly to encourage people. He wanted them to support the fight for freedom. He also gave shelter to freedom fighters and Hindu people at his school in Jessore.
Abul Hasan Jashori also founded other schools. In 1975, he started the Ehsania Madrasah in Narail. He also founded the Shamsul Uloom Madrasah in Lakshmipasha in 1982. In 1980, he started the Zakariyya Madrasah in Senhati, Khulna.

Death and Legacy
Abul Hasan Jashori passed away on July 8, 1993, in Jessore. He was buried in the graveyard of the Darul Uloom Jessore school.
