The Aguadilla metropolitan area is a group of cities and towns in northwestern Puerto Rico. It's like a big neighborhood where many people live and work. The United States Census Bureau helps define these areas.
In 2009, about 342,495 people lived here. This was a big jump from the year 2000, showing that more people are moving to this area!
Aguadilla is the second-largest metropolitan area in Puerto Rico. Only the San Juan–Bayamón–Caguas area is bigger. It's also the fastest-growing area in Puerto Rico.
This area is famous for its beautiful beaches. Many surfers and tourists visit, especially the town of Rincón. Aguadilla also has one of the main airports on the island. The area has a rich history. Some people believe Christopher Columbus landed near here a long time ago.

What is a Metropolitan Area?
A metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is a region that includes a main city and nearby areas. These areas are closely connected to the main city. People often travel between them for work, school, or shopping. The U.S. government uses these areas to study population and economy.
Cities in the Aguadilla Area
The Aguadilla-Isabela-San Sebastián Metropolitan Statistical Area includes seven different towns, called municipios in Spanish. These towns work together to form the larger metropolitan area.
The Larger Mayagüez–Aguadilla Area
Recently, the Aguadilla–Isabela–San Sebastián area joined with another nearby metropolitan area. This new, larger area is called the Mayagüez–Aguadilla, PR Combined Statistical Area (CSA).
A Combined Statistical Area (CSA) is an even bigger region. It includes two or more metropolitan areas that are close to each other. They are connected by people traveling between them for jobs. The Mayagüez–Aguadilla CSA now includes thirteen municipios along Puerto Rico's western coast.
