Agustín Calleri (born 14 September 1976) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. People often called him Gordo, which means Fat in Spanish. He was known for hitting the ball very hard. He especially liked playing on clay courts.
After his tennis career, Calleri also served as a member of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies. This means he was a representative in the government of Argentina for a short time.

Agustín Calleri was born in Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina. He started his professional tennis journey in 1995.
Starting His Journey
Calleri got his first big win in 1999 at the Roland Garros tournament. He also reached his first quarter-final in Umag that year. In 2000, he made it to the third round at Roland Garros. He even beat famous player Marat Safin in Kitzbühel. He also played a tough match against tennis legend Pete Sampras at the US Open. In 2001, he won three smaller tournaments called Challenger events. He beat future stars like Juan Ignacio Chela and David Nalbandian in these matches.
Breaking into the Top 50
In 2002, Calleri finished the year ranked among the Top 50 players for the first time. He almost won a tournament in Buenos Aires, but lost in the final. Later that year, he had a great run in Madrid. He beat top players like Marat Safin and Thomas Johansson to reach the quarter-finals.
Winning Big Titles
The year 2003 was a big one for Calleri. He won his first major title in Acapulco. He defeated several strong players, including Gastón Gaudio and Marcelo Ríos, before winning the final. After this win, he reached his highest ever ranking, becoming World No. 16. He also reached another final in Estoril and a big final in Hamburg. In Hamburg, he played against his fellow Argentine, Guillermo Coria. Calleri also had an amazing win against former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero in the Davis Cup.
In 2004, he beat Andre Agassi in Miami, which was a huge achievement. He also reached another final in Costa Do Sauipe. In 2005, he played in the final of the Amersfoort tournament.
Calleri won his second career title in 2006 at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel. This win came three years after his first title. He played very well, losing only one set throughout the tournament. He beat players like Nicolás Massú and Fernando Verdasco. In the final, he defeated his countryman Juan Ignacio Chela. Later in 2006, Calleri reached his first final on a hard court in New Haven. He lost to Nikolay Davydenko but moved back into the top 30 rankings. At the 2007 US Open, he made it to the third round after beating Lleyton Hewitt.
Doubles Success
Besides singles, Agustín Calleri also had success in doubles. He won three doubles titles during his career. He won tournaments in Viña del Mar (2003), Basel (2005), and Buenos Aires (2008).
Life After Tennis
Agustín Calleri announced that he was retiring from professional tennis in February 2010. He was 33 years old at the time. After his tennis career, he became involved in politics in Argentina.
