Ahmad Bradshaw (born March 19, 1986) is a former American football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). Bradshaw played college football for the Marshall Thundering Herd.

He was chosen by the New York Giants in the 2007 NFL draft. Ahmad Bradshaw is a two-time Super Bowl champion. He won Super Bowls XLII and XLVI with the Giants. In both games, the Giants beat the New England Patriots. Bradshaw was the top rusher in both Super Bowls. This makes him one of only eight running backs in NFL history to lead in rushing in two Super Bowls.

Ahmad Bradshaw's Early Life and High School Sports

Ahmad Bradshaw was born in Bluefield, West Virginia. His parents are Diana Davis and James Bradshaw. He grew up playing many sports. These included high school football, basketball, and track. He attended Graham High School.

Bradshaw was a highly rated football player. He was ranked as the 7th best player in Virginia. He was also the 28th best cornerback prospect in the country. In his junior year, he rushed for 2,282 yards. He scored 27 touchdowns. As a senior, he gained 2,557 rushing yards. He scored 31 touchdowns that year. Overall, he rushed for 5,265 yards and 92 touchdowns in high school. He averaged almost ten yards per carry. He earned All-Virginia honors. He was also named VHSL AA Player of the Year.

He was also a talented track and field athlete. He competed as a sprinter and jumper. He ran the 55 meters in 6.75 seconds. His 100-meter time was 11.34 seconds. In jumping, he achieved a personal best of 1.80 meters in the high jump. Bradshaw first planned to play for the Virginia team. However, he later enrolled at Marshall University. His time at Marshall led to him being inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame.

Ahmad Bradshaw played college football for the Marshall Thundering Herd. He showed great skill and dedication.

Freshman Year: Starting Strong (2004)

In his first year (2004), Bradshaw rushed for 462 yards. He scored three touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 187 yards. Two of these catches were for touchdowns. He missed two games due to an ankle injury. This injury happened during a game against Ohio State.

Bradshaw had a career-high 145 rushing yards against Western Michigan. This included a 77-yard touchdown run. He also had a 75-yard touchdown catch against Kansas State University.

Sophomore Year: Building Momentum (2005)

As a sophomore in 2005, Bradshaw rushed for 997 yards. He had 1,382 all-purpose yards. He was named a second-team All-Conference USA player. He led his team in both rushing and receiving yards.

In the first game, he rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown. He also had 73 receiving yards and a score. He gained 99 yards against #3 Virginia Tech. He then rushed for 133 yards against the University of Texas at El Paso. The next week, he topped that with 150 yards against Southern Miss. His best game was against East Carolina. He rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 51 yards receiving.

Junior Year: A Standout Season (2006)

Bradshaw's junior year in 2006 was his best college season. He rushed for 1,523 yards. He scored 19 rushing touchdowns. He also had 129 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was ranked 8th in the nation for rushing yards. He was tied for 3rd in rushing touchdowns.

Against Hofstra, he ran for 152 yards and four touchdowns. He gained 181 yards and a score against the University of Central Florida. Two weeks later, he rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns against the University of Alabama-Birmingham. His top game was against UTEP. He rushed for a career-high 261 yards and five touchdowns. Bradshaw was considered for Conference USA Player of the Year. He earned first-team All-Conference USA honors.

Ahmad Bradshaw's NFL Career

Ahmad Bradshaw was drafted by the New York Giants in 2007. He was the 250th player chosen in the seventh round.

Starting with the New York Giants (2007-2012)

2007 Season: Rookie Year and Super Bowl Win

In his first two games, Bradshaw fumbled twice on kickoff returns. He was a strong kickoff returner. The Giants later used a different player for returns.

Injuries to other players gave Bradshaw more chances to run the ball. He gained 29 yards on four carries against the Minnesota Vikings. On December 23, 2007, he scored his first NFL touchdown. It was an 88-yard run against the Buffalo Bills. This was the third longest run in Giants history. It was also the longest run of the 2007 season. He finished that game with 151 yards on 17 carries.

Bradshaw played a key role in the Giants' 2007 playoff run. He had a great game in the NFC Championship game against Green Bay. He gained 45 yards in Super Bowl XLII. This was the most among all running backs. He also recovered a fumble by quarterback Eli Manning. The Giants won the Super Bowl 17-14. They defeated the previously undefeated New England Patriots.

2008 Season: Third String Role

In 2008, Bradshaw averaged 6.7 yards per carry. He was the third running back for the Giants. Another player, Derrick Ward, had a strong season. This meant Bradshaw had fewer opportunities.

2009 Season: Stepping Up

In 2009, Bradshaw became the second-string running back. He played behind Brandon Jacobs. He rushed for a career-high 778 yards. He also scored 7 touchdowns that season. Bradshaw also had a long receiving play of 55 yards.

2010 Season: Leading Rusher

Bradshaw was promoted to the first-string running back in 2010. This was due to Brandon Jacobs's previous season. Bradshaw finished the season with career highs. He had 1,235 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns.

2011 Season: Another Super Bowl Victory

In 2011, Bradshaw signed a four-year contract. It was worth $18 million. In Week 6, he scored three touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills. The Giants won 27-24. Bradshaw rushed for nine touchdowns during the season. This was a career-high for him.

Bradshaw scored the winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLVI. It was a 6-yard run with 57 seconds left. The New England Patriots allowed him to score without tackling him. This was to save time on the clock. Bradshaw tried to stop before the goal line but fell into the end zone. The Giants won 21-17.

2012 Season: A Thousand-Yard Year

Bradshaw played alongside rookie David Wilson. He had a good season despite sharing playing time. He missed only two games due to injuries. He played in 14 games. He had 221 rushing attempts for 1,015 rushing yards. He also scored 6 touchdowns. This was his second time reaching over 1,000 rushing yards.

On October 7, he carried the ball 30 times for 200 yards. This was against the Cleveland Browns. He also had 4 catches for 29 yards. This gave him 229 total yards. The Giants won 41-27. Bradshaw was released by the Giants on February 6, 2013. This helped the team manage their salary cap.

Time with the Indianapolis Colts (2013-2015)

On June 11, 2013, Bradshaw signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He was placed on injured reserve after Week 3. This was because he needed neck surgery.

On March 11, 2014, Bradshaw re-signed with the Colts for one year. Before an injury in Week 6, he had six touchdown receptions. This was a career-high. He led all NFL running backs in this area. In the 2014 season, he rushed for 425 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 38 passes for 300 yards and six touchdowns.

On October 14, 2015, Bradshaw agreed to another one-year deal with the Colts. On November 30, he was placed on injured reserve again. This time it was due to a wrist injury. Bradshaw later participated in The Spring League in April 2017.
