Albert White (born June 13, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in many different basketball leagues. These included leagues in the United States and other countries.

In high school, Albert White was one of the top basketball players in the U.S. He had great success in college, especially after moving to the University of Missouri. However, he did not play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Instead, he played in other professional leagues. These included the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and various international leagues.

He was named an All-American by Street & Smith, Parade, and McDonald's All-American. In college, he was a first-team All-Big 12 Conference player. He was also named Big 12 Player of the Year by CNN/Sports Illustrated.

Albert White entered the 1999 NBA draft but was not chosen. He was then drafted into the CBA. As a professional, he was named to the All-CBA second team. He was also an All-Star or All-League player in several professional leagues. He even helped his teams win championships.

High School Basketball Achievements

Albert White was born on June 13, 1977. He attended Inkster High School in Metro Detroit, Michigan. There, he played basketball and became a star player.

In 1995, he finished third in the Mr. Basketball of Michigan award voting. He was named a Parade All-American as a junior and senior. Before his senior year, he was also named a Street & Smith All-American. As a senior, he became a McDonald's All-American.

He was also chosen for the Detroit News/Detroit Free Press first-team All-State. This honor is also known as the Dream Team. He received this award in both his junior and senior years.

Albert White was part of a very talented group of McDonald's All-Americans. This group included future NBA All-Stars like Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce. Many players from his 1994–95 Street & Smith High School All-America Team went on to play in the NBA.

College Basketball Journey

Albert White first played for the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team. He later transferred to the Missouri Tigers men's basketball team. He left Michigan after his first year due to disagreements with his coach, Steve Fisher.

At Michigan, he averaged 9.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He was one of the most improved players that season. He averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds in his last seven Big Ten Conference games.

White played for the Michigan Wolverines in the 1996 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. They were a seventh seed but lost in the first round. He returned to the 1999 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament with Missouri. They were an eighth seed but also lost in the first round.

During the 1998–99 season, he made history for the Missouri Tigers. He was the first player to lead the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists in the same season. He was also among the top five players in the Big 12 for both scoring and rebounding.

That season, he helped the Missouri Tigers end the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team's long home winning streak. He was named Big 12 men's basketball player of the week twice. He also made the official All-Big 12 first team. CNN/Sports Illustrated named him the Big 12 Player of the Year.

After his junior year, he decided to enter the 1999 NBA draft. This meant he would give up his last year of college eligibility. He was the first Missouri Tiger to declare early for the NBA draft. Although he was not drafted, other players who left college early that year found success in the NBA. These included Elton Brand and Steve Francis.

Professional Basketball Career

After not being drafted into the NBA, Albert White was chosen in the 1999 CBA draft by the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In his first year, he was named to the CBA All-Rookie team. He played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce for parts of two seasons.

He also played for other teams in the U.S., like the Florida Sea Dragons and the Oklahoma Storm in the United States Basketball League (USBL). He also played internationally for the Brighton Bears in the British Basketball League (BBL).

During the 2002–03 season, playing for the Rockford Lightning, he was fourth in scoring in the CBA. He was also named to the All-CBA second team. In 2003–04, he played for the Incheon ET Land Black Slamer in the Korean Basketball League (KBL).

In 2005, he played for the Detroit Pros in the International Basketball League (IBL). In 2007–08, he led the Pittsburgh Xplosion to the playoffs. He averaged 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game that season.

Albert White also played in leagues in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Italy. Throughout his professional career, he was an All-Star or All-League player in the CBA, BBL, KBL, and IBL. He also helped his teams win championships in the USBL (2002), CBA (2003), and LPB (2007).

In 2011, Albert White joined the London Lightning in the National Basketball League of Canada.
