Alexandros Emeka "Alex" Antetokounmpo (born August 27, 2001) is a professional basketball player from Greece. He plays for PAOK in the Greek Basketball League and the FIBA Europe Cup. Alex is the youngest brother of famous basketball players Giannis, Thanasis, and Kostas.

Early Life and Basketball Start

Alex Antetokounmpo was born in Sepolia, a neighborhood in Athens, Greece. His parents, Veronica and Charles, were from Nigeria. He received a Nigerian passport in 2013, which helped him travel to the United States. In September 2021, he and his mother also became Greek citizens.

Alex started playing basketball when he was nine years old. In sixth grade, his family moved to Cudahy, Wisconsin, in the United States. This was close to where his older brother Giannis was getting ready to play for the Milwaukee Bucks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before high school, Alex moved to River Hills, Wisconsin. He then went to Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

High School Basketball Career

Alex played basketball for Dominican High School for four years. In his first year, he scored about 2.9 points per game. By his second year, he had grown taller, reaching about 203 centimeters (6 feet 8 inches).

Alex was chosen as an all-state player twice. In his senior year, he averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game. He received offers to play college basketball from schools like DePaul and Ohio. However, on May 9, 2020, Alex decided he would play basketball in Europe after high school instead of going to college in the U.S.
