Alex Carrington's Early Life

Alex Carrington grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi. He went to Tupelo High School in his hometown. During his senior year, he was a star player. He made 84 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players many times. He also had six sacks, tackling the quarterback before they could throw the ball. Alex forced three fumbles, making the other team drop the ball. Because of his great performance, he was named to the all-region team. The only college that offered him a scholarship was Arkansas State, and he decided to go there.

College Football Success

At Arkansas State, Alex Carrington played for the Red Wolves. He became a standout player in college. In 2008, he was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. This award recognized him as the best defensive player in his conference. That season, he had 10.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss in 12 games. A tackle for loss means he stopped the ball carrier behind their starting line.

Senior Year Highlights

In his final year of college, Alex continued to shine. He recorded 41 tackles, with 14.5 of them being tackles for loss. He also had nine sacks and forced three fumbles. In one exciting game against Western Kentucky, he picked up a fumbled ball and ran 27 yards for a touchdown! He finished his college career with 21.5 sacks.
