Amaal Mallik is a talented Indian music director, composer, and singer. He creates music for movies and also produces and arranges songs. He is the older son of music director Daboo Malik and the grandson of Sardar Malik, who was also a famous composer.
Amaal started his journey as a composer in 2014. He wrote three songs for the movie Jai Ho, starring Salman Khan. He also composed the song "Naina" for the film Khoobsurat. He became very well-known for his work on the soundtrack of M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. He is currently signed with Sony Music India.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Amaal Mallik was born in Mumbai on June 16, 1990. He is the older of two children. His father, Daboo Malik, is a music director, and his younger brother, Armaan Malik, is also a popular musician.
Amaal began learning music when he was just 8 years old. He especially loved playing the piano. He studied piano at Trinity College of Music, learning Western Classical, Jazz, and Rock music. He also learned Indian classical music from his grandfather, Sardar Malik.
A Career in Music
Amaal Mallik started his career very early. After finishing 10th grade, when he was only 15, he began helping music composers like Amar Mohile. He worked on the soundtracks for films such as Sarkar (2005) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007). Later, he helped his father produce and arrange music for movies like Kisaan (2009).
From 2008 to 2011, Amaal created background music for many films. These included popular movies like Rowdy Rathore and R... Rajkumar. His first time creating the full background score by himself was for Saina, a movie about the famous badminton player Saina Nehwal.
Becoming a Music Composer
In 2014, Amaal officially became a music composer. He composed three songs for Salman Khan's film Jai Ho. He also wrote a song for the movie Khoobsurat.
In 2017, he composed two songs for Badrinath Ki Dulhania. He sang "Aashiq Surrender Hua" with Shreya Ghoshal, and "Roke Na Ruke Naina" was sung by Arijit Singh. Amaal was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for his work on this film. He also composed all the songs for the movie Noor.
In 2018, Amaal composed two popular singles, "Ghar Se Nikalte Hi" and "Ready to Move," both sung by his brother Armaan. He also composed a song for Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which helped him win the IIFA Best Music Director award in 2019.
In 2019, Amaal composed songs for the thriller Badla, starring Amitabh Bachchan. This made him the youngest composer to work on a film for the legendary actor. He also composed "Chale Aana" for De De Pyaar De and "Yeh Aaina" for Kabir Singh, which was one of the highest-grossing films that year. For Kabir Singh, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.
In 2020, Amaal released the single "Zara Thehro," sung by his brother Armaan Malik and Tulsi Kumar. He also released his own debut single as a singer and performer, titled "Tu Mera Nahi," with Sony Music India.
In 2021, Amaal composed three songs for the film Saina: "Chal Wahin Chale" (sung by Shreya Ghoshal), "Main Hoon Na Tere Saath" (sung by Armaan Malik), and "Parinda" (sung by himself). In September 2021, he worked with international pop star Dua Lipa on an Indian remix of her song Levitating, alongside Sukriti Kakar and Prakriti Kakar.
In 2022, Amaal composed songs for films like Radhe Shyam, Bachchan Pandey, and Nikamma. In 2023, he composed "Jee Rahe The Hum (Falling in Love)" for the film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, sung by Salman Khan.
His recent work in 2024 includes songs for Vedaa and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
Amaal as a Singer
Besides composing, Amaal Mallik has also sung many songs. His first song as a singer was "O Khuda" from the movie Hero in 2015. He has sung in many of his own compositions, including:
