Amaal Mallik is a talented Indian music artist. He is a music director, composer, and singer. He also produces music, arranges songs, and writes lyrics. Amaal is the older son of Daboo Malik and the grandson of Sardar Malik, both well-known in music.

He started his journey as a composer in 2014. He created three songs for Salman Khan's movie Jai Ho. After that, he composed "Naina" for Khoobsurat. Amaal became very famous for his songs in the movie M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. He works with Sony Music India.

Early Life and Music Journey

Amaal Mallik was born in Mumbai on June 16, 1990. He is the older child of music director Daboo Malik and Jyothi Malik. He went to Jamnabai Narsee School. Later, he studied Bachelor of Commerce at N. M. College in Mumbai. His younger brother, Armaan Malik, is also a famous musician.

Amaal began learning music when he was just 8 years old. He especially loved playing the piano. He studied piano at Trinity College of Music. He learned Western Classical, Jazz, and Rock music there. His teachers included Benny, Xavier Fernandes, Tony Pinto, and Joy Bose. He also learned Indian classical music from his grandfather, Sardar Malik.

Amaal's Music Career

Amaal Mallik started his music career at a young age. After finishing 10th grade, he helped music composer Amar Mohile. He worked on movie soundtracks like Sarkar (2005) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007). He was only 15 then! Later, he produced music for his father's films. One of these was Kisaan (2009). He even worked with pop singer Daler Mehndi on a remix for "Mere Desh Ki Dharti".

From 2008 to 2011, Amaal created background music for many films. These included Rowdy Rathore, R... Rajkumar, and Heroine. His first time creating background music all by himself was for Saina. This movie was about the famous badminton player Saina Nehwal.

Becoming a Music Composer

In 2014, Amaal became a music composer. He composed three songs for Salman Khan's movie Jai Ho. He also composed a song for Khoobsurat.

In 2017, he composed two songs for Badrinath Ki Dulhania. He sang "Aashiq Surrender Hua" with Shreya Ghoshal. Another song, "Roke Na Ruke Naina," was sung by Arijit Singh. Amaal was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for this work. He also composed all the songs for the movie Noor. He sang a song in Noor with Tulsi Kumar.

He also composed songs for Chef, Golmaal Again, and Mubarakan. He sang in Mubarakan too. He released two singles that year, both sung by his brother Armaan Malik.

Recent Hits and Awards

In 2018, Amaal composed two popular singles, "Ghar Se Nikalte Hi" and "Ready to Move." Both were sung by Armaan Malik. Amaal also composed a song for Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. This song helped him win the IIFA Best Music Director award in 2019.

In 2019, Amaal composed "Kyun Rabba" and "Tum Na Aaye" for the thriller Badla. This was special because he was the youngest composer to work on songs for Amitabh Bachchan. Amaal also appeared as a judge on the singing show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs. He composed "Chale Aana" for De De Pyaar De, sung by Armaan. He also composed "Yeh Aaina" for Kabir Singh, sung by Shreya Ghoshal. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for Kabir Singh.

In August 2020, he released "Dil Ko Maine Di Kasam," sung by Arijit Singh. Amaal also announced his first solo single, "Tu Mera Nahi," which he sang himself. He composed three songs for the movie Saina (film): "Chal Wahin Chale" (sung by Shreya Ghoshal), "Main Hoon Na Tere Saath" (sung by Armaan Malik), and "Parinda" (sung by himself). In 2021, Amaal worked with Dua Lipa on an Indian remix of her song Levitating.

Amaal as a Singer

Amaal Mallik is not just a composer; he is also a singer. He made his debut as a singer in the 2015 film Hero with the song "O Khuda." He has sung many songs that he also composed.
