History of Anderleigh
Anderleigh has a simple but interesting history, especially when it comes to its school.
Early School Days
A school first opened in the area on July 10, 1895. It was called Brookleigh Provisional School. A "provisional school" was a smaller school, often set up in a temporary building. It would become a full "state school" if enough students attended regularly.
Renaming and Closing
In 1899, the school's name changed to Anderleigh Provisional School. Then, in 1909, it officially became Anderleigh State School. This meant it was a permanent school run by the government. However, the school eventually closed its doors on July 24, 1960.
