Anders Rozenkrantz Lindegaard (born 13 April 1984) is a Danish former professional footballer. He played as a goalkeeper.

Lindegaard started his career with his hometown club, Odense Boldklub. He later moved to the Norwegian club Aalesund in 2009. There, he helped them win the Norwegian Football Cup. In 2010, he was named Goalkeeper of the Year in both Denmark and Norway.

After these achievements, Manchester United signed Lindegaard. He spent five years at Old Trafford. He was a back-up goalkeeper, first to Edwin van der Sar and then to David de Gea. During his time at Manchester United, he won the Premier League title and two Community Shields.

He later played for West Bromwich Albion and Preston North End. In September 2017, he joined Burnley. Lindegaard also played for the Denmark national team. He represented Denmark at different youth levels before playing for the senior team.

Club Career Highlights

Starting at Odense

Lindegaard was born in Odense, Denmark. He began his football journey at Odense Boldklub (OB). He made his first appearance in the Danish Superliga in November 2006. He also played in a UEFA competition game in July 2009.

During his time at OB, he often had to wait for his chance to play. He spent some time on loan at Kolding FC and Aalesunds FK. He later joined Aalesund permanently.

Success with Aalesund

In 2009, Lindegaard moved to the Norwegian club Aalesunds FK. He first joined them on loan, then signed a permanent deal. With Aalesund, he helped the team win the Norwegian Football Cup in 2009. His great performances in 2010 earned him the Goalkeeper of the Year award in both Norway and Denmark.

Time at Manchester United

In November 2010, Lindegaard became a target for the famous English club Manchester United. He officially joined the team on 27 November 2010. He signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. He started training with the team in December.

He made his first appearance for Manchester United in an FA Cup match in January 2011. In March, he had knee surgery, which kept him from playing for about five weeks.

In September 2011, Lindegaard played his first UEFA Champions League game for United. He received praise for his performance. He also made his Premier League debut in October 2011. He kept several "clean sheets" (meaning he didn't let the other team score). In January 2012, he injured his ankle. This meant he missed several games.

In August 2012, Lindegaard signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United. He continued to compete for the starting goalkeeper spot. In the 2012–13 season, he played enough games to earn a Premier League winner's medal. Manchester United won the league title that season. In the 2013–14 season, he made fewer appearances.

Moving to West Brom and Preston

On 31 August 2015, Lindegaard joined West Bromwich Albion. He signed a two-year contract. However, he found it hard to get into the main team there.

In January 2016, he moved to Championship side Preston North End on loan. He played well and kept a clean sheet in his first game. In July 2016, he signed a permanent deal with Preston North End.

Later Career: Burnley and Helsingborg

On 21 September 2017, Lindegaard joined Premier League team Burnley. He made his debut for Burnley in a Europa League qualifying match in July 2018. After playing two Europa League games, his contract was not extended.

In July 2019, Lindegaard signed with Allsvenskan side Helsingborgs IF in Sweden. On 19 July 2020, he scored the first goal of his career in a league match. After Helsingborg was moved down to a lower league in November 2022, Lindegaard announced he was retiring from football.

International Career

Lindegaard played for Denmark at different youth levels. He played for the Under-19 team in September 2002. He also played for the Under-20 team.

He made his debut for the senior Denmark national team in September 2010. This was in a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier against Iceland. Denmark won the game 1–0. He played a total of five games for the Denmark national team. He was considered for the Euro 2012 finals. However, injuries kept him from playing in the tournament.

Personal Life

Anders Lindegaard was married to Swedish model Misse Beqiri. They have a son named Julian.

After he stopped playing professional football, Lindegaard reportedly started a new job. He joined a company called UBS in Copenhagen.
