Andhra University is a public university in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It started in 1926. The university is highly rated, receiving an A++ grade from NAAC. This means it meets very high standards for education.

History of Andhra University
King Vikram Deo Verma, the Maharaja of Jeypore, was a very important helper for the university. He gave land and a lot of money to help start the university. This was important because the university might have moved due to not enough money.
He also gave money every year to the university. The Jeypore College of Technology and Science at Andhra University was started by him. The university gave King Vikram Deo an honorary doctorate degree to thank him.
University Emblem
The university's special symbol, or emblem, was created by Sri Kowta Rammohan Sastri. He got help from Cattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy.
- The rising sun on the emblem shows the university itself.
- The light rays coming from the sun represent all the different subjects you can study there.
- The lotus flower stands for Goddess Lakshmi (who brings good fortune) and Saraswati (who brings knowledge).
- The swastika is a symbol of good luck and blessings.
- The ocean shows how vast and deep knowledge can be.
- The two serpents represent people who search for wisdom and those who protect it.

Andhra University is recognized as one of the top universities. In 2023, it was ranked among the best universities in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It was also ranked highly in Asia.
The QS World University Rankings also placed it among the top universities in Asia in 2023. In India, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 41st overall in 2024. It was also ranked 25th among all universities in India. The university's College of Pharmaceutical Sciences was ranked 34th in India for pharmacy studies by NIRF.
NAAC Accreditation
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) gave Andhra University an A++ grade in 2023. This is a very high honor, and only a few universities received this grade that year. This A++ status will last for seven years, until November 8, 2030.
