Lakshmi is a very important goddess in Hinduism. She is known as the goddess of money, wisdom, and good luck. Many Hindus pray to her during Diwali, a big festival celebrated in India.
Lakshmi is often shown with four arms and fair skin. She usually sits on a lotus flower. You might also see her surrounded by elephants. She is always covered in beautiful jewellery.
Lakshmi's Family and Forms
Lakshmi is married to the Hindu god Vishnu. Vishnu is one of the most important gods in Hinduism.

Lakshmi also has several avatars. An avatar is when a god comes to Earth in a human or other form. Lakshmi's avatars are usually married to Vishnu's avatars.
