The Story of Angel Delight
Angel Delight first appeared in shops in 1967. It was created by the Bird's company, which was already famous for its custard powder. The very first flavour was strawberries-and-cream.
The dessert quickly became a huge hit. By the 1970s, it was so popular that it helped double the entire market for instant desserts in the UK. After becoming less popular in the 1980s, the brand made a big comeback. In 1999, it even had a special advertising campaign featuring the famous animated characters Wallace & Gromit.
By 2006, Angel Delight was once again the top-selling instant cold dessert in the country. Today, the brand is owned by a company called Premier Foods.
