Angel Delight is a popular powdered dessert mix from the United Kingdom. You just whisk it with milk to make a sweet, fluffy dessert. It's a bit like a mousse!
This yummy treat first came out in 1967. The company Bird's created it, starting with a strawberries-and-cream flavour. By the 1970s, Angel Delight was super popular. It helped Bird's double the market for instant desserts.
After being less popular in the 1980s, Angel Delight made a comeback. In 1999, a special advertising campaign featured Wallace & Gromit. By 2006, it was the best-selling instant cold dessert in the UK. Today, Premier Foods owns the brand. In 2015, a survey by Food Network even called it Britain's 'favourite childhood dish'!
What are the Flavours?
Angel Delight comes in several tasty flavours today. You can find it in strawberry, butterscotch, chocolate, chocolate mint, and banana.
There are also versions with "no added sugar." These include butterscotch, white chocolate, and strawberry flavours.
How is it Sold?
Angel Delight is sold in different sizes. You can buy packets that make four servings. There are also larger tubs that make twelve servings. In 2017, they launched single-serving cups. These are ready to eat, which was a way to make the brand more modern. Not all flavours are available in every size. For example, the large tubs usually only come in strawberry and butterscotch.
Past Flavours
Over the years, many other flavours have been made. Some of these discontinued flavours include coffee, coffee walnut, black cherry, blueberry, peach, lime, lemon, blackcurrant, bubblegum, tangerine, vanilla ice cream, forest fruits, popcorn, candy floss, butter mint, White Chocolate, and raspberry.
