Angela Anaconda is a fun animated TV show from Canada and the United States. It was created by Joanna Ferrone and Sue Rose, who also voices the main character, Angela. The show aired for three seasons, from 1999 to 2001, with a total of 65 episodes.

The show follows the adventures of an 8-year-old girl named Angela. She lives in a made-up town called Tapwater Springs. Angela hangs out with her three best friends and often deals with some tricky classmates.

Main Characters
- Angela Anaconda (voiced by Sue Rose) is an 8-year-old girl with freckles. She is very imaginative and loves to play. Angela lives in Tapwater Springs with her parents, her two older twin brothers Mark and Derek, and her younger sister Lulu. Her best friends are Johnny Abatti, Gina Lash, and Gordy Rhinehart. Angela often has daydreams where she gets back at her rivals, Nanette Manoir and Mrs. Brinks. She imagines funny and impossible things happening to them, like Nanette falling through ice or turning into a flash card.
- Johnny Abatti (voiced by Al Mukadam) is a kind boy who is a bit silly. His parents are not seen, but he lives with his grandmother Carmella and uncle Nicky. Johnny is popular and proud of his cool hairstyle. Nanette Manoir likes him a lot and tries to get his attention. She often invites him to fancy events, and he usually brings Angela and their friends along. Johnny doesn't seem to notice Nanette's feelings. He might like Angela, even though he never says it. On Valentine's Day, he sends Angela flowers but forgets to sign the card!
- Gina Lash (voiced by Bryn McAuley) is the smartest kid in her class. She knows a lot of facts and has a big vocabulary. Gina is always ready to help her friends with good advice. She loves to learn and has many hobbies, like using her microscope. Gina is also known for her huge appetite. She is always hungry and loves foods like Abatti's Pizza and Tastee Swirl ice cream. She even looks up to the person who makes her favorite cupcakes. Gina lives with her mom and has a pet turtle named Sheldon.
- Gordy Rhinehart (voiced by Edward Glen) is a sweet, sensitive, and artistic boy. He has asthma and prefers quiet activities like pressing flowers, doing housework, and writing poetry. He loves ballet and nature. Gordy wears big glasses and a blue vest. He is very different from his strong, sporty dad, Coach Rhinehart. But they have a very loving relationship. Gordy is great with animals and has a perfectly groomed dog named Fabio. He is also secretly in love with Gina Lash.
- Nanette Manoir (voiced by Ruby Smith-Merovitz) is the teacher's favorite student. She speaks with a fancy, fake French accent. Nanette has long, curly blonde hair, just like her mom. Her parents spoil her and don't see how mean she can be at school. Nanette loves showing off her pampered looks. She enjoys fancy activities like baton twirling, ballet, and ice skating. She uses her family's money and high status to make herself seem better than her classmates, especially Angela.
- Mrs. Ephigenia Brinks (voiced by Richard Binsley) is a middle-aged third-grade teacher. She wears a grey wig and a long dress. Mrs. Brinks is easily tricked and always favors Nanette. She doesn't like Angela and is very strict with her. Mrs. Brinks thinks Angela is strange and causes trouble, so she often punishes her. Angela and her friends sometimes peek into Mrs. Brinks' backyard from Angela's tree house.
Other Characters
- Astronaut Bob is a local hero in Tapwater Springs. Angela and her friends admire him. He was an astronaut who walked on the moon. Now, he volunteers at the town's space museum. His picture is on cereal boxes and other products.
- Candy May is a very sweet but a bit confused child. She has long red hair with a ribbon. She often hesitates and mixes up her words. Candy May loves playing with glitter and paste. She is the tallest kid in the class.
- Carmella "Nonna" Abatti is Johnny's grandmother and runs Abatti's Pizzeria. She is a great cook and very welcoming to Johnny and his friends. Nonna is not afraid to say what she thinks.
- Coach Rhinehart is Gordy's very sporty father. He is a football coach and PE teacher at Tapwater Springs Elementary School. He usually wears a bright orange tracksuit. Even though he loves sports, he accepts Gordy for who he is and encourages him to be himself.
- Conrad "Connie" Brinks is Mrs. Brinks' quiet and patient husband. He is very loving towards his wife. Conrad works at the town's public TV station. He used to be a great bowler.
- Howell and Bunny Manoir are Nanette's rich parents. They spoil their daughter a lot and often don't notice her bad behavior.
- January Cole and Karlene Trainor (voiced by Annick Obonsawin) are Nanette's followers. They always go where Nanette goes. They care a lot about their looks and get fashion advice from Nanette.
- Jimmy Jamal (voiced by Kevin Duhaney) is an athletic boy in Angela's class. He often plays a hand-held video game and talks about his super-fast shoes. He is the son of the mayor of Tapwater Springs.
- Josephine Praline (voiced by Cara Pifko) is a kind student who tries to guide her classmates to do the right thing. She is loving and forgiving. Josephine is well-liked by her classmates. She tries to get Angela to be nice to Nanette, but even she finds it hard to find good qualities in Nanette. Josephine comes from a very large family.
- Mark and Derek Anaconda (voiced by Rob Tinkler) are Angela's older twin brothers. They often tease and bother Angela and her friends. They call almost everyone "dude" and think things are good if they "rock." They play on the town football team.
- Nicholas "Uncle Nicky" Abatti is Johnny's uncle and co-owner of Abatti's Pizzeria. He is usually good-natured but can be a bit childish. He loves fast cars and disco music. Uncle Nicky is often seen with two women.
- William and Geneva Anaconda are the parents of Mark, Derek, Angela, and Lulu. Bill loves to invent things, but his inventions don't always work out. He sells dancing pigs and foam to make money. Geneva is an artist who teaches at the community college. They are both loving parents who support Angela and her siblings.
Where to Watch
The show aired on Fox Family Channel and Starz Kids and Family in the United States. In Canada, it was shown on Teletoon. Around the world, you could watch it on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, or Channel 4 in the UK.
The show hasn't been fully released on DVD. However, the first twenty episodes were released on four DVDs in Australia. It was also shown on ABC in Australia for many years.
Popularity
When Angela Anaconda was on Fox Family, it was very popular and got high ratings. The channel often played many episodes in a row.
