Anke Fuchs (born Anke Nevermann; July 5, 1937 – October 14, 2019) was a German lawyer and politician. She was a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Anke Fuchs held important government roles. She was the Federal Minister for Youth, Family and Health in 1982. Later, she became Vice President of the Bundestag from 1998 to 2002. She also led the Friedrich Ebert Foundation from 2003 to 2010.

Early Life and Political Start
Anke Nevermann was born in Hamburg. Her father, Paul Nevermann, later became the mayor of Hamburg. Her family was very involved in politics. Both her parents and grandfathers were members of the SPD.
Anke joined the SPD's youth group, called Falken, while still in school. She took part in protests against atomic weapons. She officially joined the SPD in 1956. This was just before she finished high school.
Education and Early Career
After high school, Anke Fuchs studied law. She finished her law studies in 1964. She then worked for a big trade union called Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund (DGB). She focused on workers' rights and social policies. From 1971 to 1978, she was on the board of another union, IG Metall.
Becoming a Minister
In 1977, Anke Fuchs became a Secretary of State. This was in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The minister at that time was Herbert Ehrenberg. In 1979, she joined the main board of the SPD party.
In 1980, she was elected to the Bundestag. The Bundestag is like Germany's parliament. She represented a district in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Federal Minister for Youth, Family and Health
On April 28, 1982, Anke Fuchs was given a big job. Chancellor Helmut Schmidt appointed her as the Federal Minister for Youth, Family and Health. This meant she was in charge of important topics for young people and families. However, she only held this position for a short time. She left the government on October 4, 1982. This happened after the conservative party won the election.
Later Political Roles
Anke Fuchs remained a member of the Bundestag until 2002. She continued to be a strong voice in German politics.
Vice President of the Bundestag
From 1993 to 1998, she was a vice president for the SPD group in the Bundestag. Then, from 1998 to 2002, she became the Vice President of the Bundestag. This is a very important role in the German parliament.
Leading the Friedrich Ebert Foundation
After leaving the Bundestag, Anke Fuchs took on another significant role. She became the president of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation from 2003 to 2010. This foundation works on political education. It supports young scientists and promotes international cooperation. It also focuses on peace and social reforms in Europe. She became honorary president in 2010.

Anke Fuchs was married and had two children. She passed away on October 14, 2019. She was 82 years old.
