What Makes Anthony Lakes Special?
Anthony Lakes offers more than just regular downhill skiing. It's a place where you can try different kinds of snow adventures.
Snowcat Skiing Adventures
Imagine being driven up a snowy mountain in a special vehicle called a snowcat! This is what snowcat skiing is all about. It lets you reach fresh, untouched snow on nearby peaks that aren't accessible by chairlifts. It's an exciting way to explore the mountain.
Fun Terrain and Trails
The resort has a special course called a boardercross course. This is where skiers and snowboarders race each other down a track with turns, jumps, and bumps. It's a thrilling challenge!
If you enjoy a calmer pace, Anthony Lakes also has excellent cross-country (Nordic) ski trails. These trails are perfect for gliding through the snowy forest. There's even a special building called a Nordic center where you can get ready and warm up.
Exploring the Backcountry
For experienced adventurers, there are many chances for backcountry skiing nearby. This means skiing in wild, unmarked areas outside the main resort. One popular spot is Angell Basin. Backcountry skiing requires special skills and safety knowledge.
Where is Anthony Lakes?
Anthony Lakes is nestled in the Elkhorn Range. This mountain range is part of eastern Oregon's Blue Mountains. It's important to know that these Blue Mountains are different from another mountain range with the same name in southwestern Montana.
