Anthony Lapsley (born February 13, 1980) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He is known for competing in the Welterweight division. Lapsley has fought for several big organizations. These include the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator. He was also a champion in King of the Cage.

Early Life and Sports

Anthony Lapsley was born in Boston, Massachusetts. When he was 11 years old, his family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Anthony was very athletic. He enjoyed playing different sports, like basketball.

After his first year of high school football, his coach suggested he try wrestling. Anthony started wrestling and quickly became very good. He even won a state championship! However, he did not continue wrestling in college.

Mixed Martial Arts Journey

Anthony Lapsley started his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career in 2006. He had a great start, winning his first seven fights. His first loss came against Carlo Prater.

Lapsley competed for many different MMA groups. These included ShoXC, HDNet Fights, and King of the Cage. He even became the Welterweight Champion in King of the Cage.

Fighting in Bellator

Lapsley joined Bellator in 2009. His first fight there was at Bellator 7. He won that fight by making his opponent, Ryan Williams, give up.

In 2011, Lapsley was chosen to be in the Bellator Season 4 Welterweight Tournament. He faced a tough fighter named Jay Hieron. Lapsley lost this fight. The referee stopped the match, thinking Lapsley was unconscious.

Time in the UFC

In October 2013, Anthony Lapsley signed with the UFC. This is one of the biggest MMA organizations in the world. He made his UFC debut on November 16, 2013, at UFC 167. He fought Jason High and lost by a decision from the judges.

His second UFC fight was against Albert Tumenov on May 10, 2014. Lapsley lost this fight by knockout in the first round. After this match, he left the UFC.

Coming Back to Fight

After not fighting for eight years, Lapsley returned to the cage on October 15, 2022. He fought Collin Huckbody at an event called Art of Scrap 5. Lapsley lost this fight.
