Jay Hieron (born July 29, 1976) is an American actor, stuntman, and former mixed martial artist. He was known for his exciting fights. Jay Hieron was the last IFL Welterweight Champion. He also competed in major organizations like the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, and Bellator.

Jay Hieron's Early Life
Jay Hieron was born on July 29, 1976. When he was a baby, he went to live with John and Theo Hieronymous. They officially adopted him when he was eight years old.
Jay was a talented wrestler in high school. He was a two-time state wrestling championship runner-up at Freeport High School in New York. He then became a national Junior College Champion at Nassau Community College, where he earned a degree. Later, he attended Hofstra University.
Jay Hieron's Mixed Martial Arts Career
After his time wrestling in college, Jay Hieron found a new path. He started boxing to help with his energy. He realized that combining his strong wrestling skills with his new boxing abilities could lead to a career in professional mixed martial arts (MMA).
Starting His MMA Journey
Jay Hieron quickly found success in MMA. In March 2006, he won a competition called Lockdown in Paradise in Hawaii. In June 2006, he won his first fight in the International Fight League (IFL). This was at the IFL Team Championships in New Jersey.
The International Fight League later closed down. After that, Jay Hieron signed with another promotion called Affliction in August 2008. However, Affliction also stopped operating soon after. So, Jay Hieron then signed with Strikeforce.
Fighting in Strikeforce
Jay Hieron's first fight in Strikeforce was against Jesse Taylor. This fight happened at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg. Jay won the fight by a unanimous decision, meaning all the judges agreed he won. He then faced Joe Riggs on January 30, 2010, at Strikeforce: Miami. Jay Hieron won this fight by unanimous decision as well. After this win, his contract with Strikeforce ended.
Competing in Bellator
Jay Hieron then signed to fight in Bellator Fighting Championships. He joined their Season 4 welterweight tournament. In the first round, he won his fight. He then won a close decision against Brent Weedman at Bellator 40. This win moved him to the tournament finals.
At Bellator 43, Jay Hieron defeated Rick Hawn by a split decision. This meant he won the Season 4 Welterweight Tournament! This victory earned him a chance to fight for the Bellator Welterweight Championship against Ben Askren. In a very close fight, Askren defeated Hieron by a split decision.
His Time in the UFC
Jay Hieron later joined the UFC. He fought Jake Ellenberger on October 5, 2012, at UFC on FX 5. Jay lost this fight by unanimous decision.
His next fight was against Tyron Woodley on February 2, 2013, at UFC 156. Jay lost this fight by knockout in the first round. After this fight, he was released from the UFC. On March 7, 2014, Jay Hieron announced that he was retiring from MMA competitions.
