Antrel Rocelious Rolle (born December 16, 1982) is a former American football player. He was a cornerback and safety in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes, where he was recognized as an unanimous All-American. The Arizona Cardinals chose him as the eighth player overall in the 2005 NFL draft. Rolle also played for the Chicago Bears and the New York Giants. He won Super Bowl XLVI with the Giants in 2011, beating the New England Patriots.

Early Life and High School Football

Antrel Rolle was born in Homestead, Florida. He went to South Dade High School in Homestead. There, he was a star player for the South Dade Buccaneers high school football team.

• As a junior, he had three interceptions and 85 tackles.
• He also returned three kickoffs and three punts for touchdowns.
• In his senior year, he made three interceptions and 86 tackles.
• He also played offense, catching four passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Rolle was also a talented track & field athlete. He competed in hurdling events at state finals.

College Football Career

Rolle played college football at the University of Miami for the Miami Hurricanes football team from 2001 to 2004.

• In 2001, as a freshman, he played in eight games. He recorded eight tackles and one interception.
• As a sophomore in 2002, he started eleven games. He earned first-team All-Big East honors. He had a career-high 66 tackles that season.
• In 2003, his junior year, Rolle made 51 tackles and two interceptions.
• In his final season, 2004, he was named a unanimous All-American. He had 58 tackles and one interception.
• He was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) player.

Arizona Cardinals Years (2005–2009)

The Arizona Cardinals picked Antrel Rolle as the eighth player in the 2005 NFL draft. He was the second cornerback chosen that year.

Starting His NFL Career

Rolle signed a six-year contract with the Cardinals. He started as a cornerback in his first season. In his debut game, he made one tackle. He had a season-high 11 tackles in Week 3. He got injured and missed several games but returned later in the season. He made his first career interception in December 2005. He finished his rookie year with 28 tackles and one interception.

Becoming a Key Player

In 2006, Rolle continued as a starting cornerback. He had 84 tackles and ten passes defended. He also forced two fumbles and made an interception.

In 2007, Rolle showed his amazing playmaking skills. He had a standout game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He made three interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns! This performance earned him the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award. He finished the season with 62 tackles, five interceptions, and three touchdowns.

Moving to Safety

In his first season with the Giants, Rolle had 87 tackles and one interception. He was selected for his second Pro Bowl.

The 2011 season was a memorable one for Rolle and the Giants. He had 96 tackles and two interceptions. The Giants made it to the playoffs as a wildcard team. In 2015, Rolle signed with the Chicago Bears. He started as strong safety. However, he faced some injuries during the season. He played in seven games, making 35 tackles. The Bears released him in 2016.

On November 7, 2016, Antrel Rolle announced his retirement from football. He had a fantastic career, known for his toughness and playmaking abilities.
