  • Medalists

Artistic swimming is a beautiful sport that combines swimming, dance, and gymnastics. Athletes perform routines in the water, moving in sync with music. It used to be called synchronised swimming until 2017.

This exciting sport has been a part of the Summer Olympics since the 1984 Games. At first, there were three types of events: duet (two swimmers), team (a group of swimmers), and solo (one swimmer). Now, the Olympics usually feature duet and team events.

For many years, countries like the United States, Canada, and Japan were the top medal winners. They won most of the Olympic medals from 1984 to 1996. However, since the 2000 Games, Russia has been incredibly strong, winning every gold medal in artistic swimming until 2020.

Medal Winners

Many countries have won medals in artistic swimming at the Olympics. As of the 2020 Olympics, nine different countries have earned medals across 19 events. It's interesting to note that in the Women's solo event at the 1992 Olympics, two swimmers tied for first place, so no silver medal was given out that year.
