In January 2011, Ashley won her first World Cup aerials event. This happened in Lake Placid, New York, in the United States. She became the youngest female freestyle skier ever to win a World Cup event.

Overcoming Challenges
After her early success, Ashley faced some tough challenges. She tore her ACL (a knee ligament) twice. This meant she missed the 2012 and 2013 competition seasons. But she worked hard to recover and get back to skiing.
When she returned, Ashley quickly showed her talent again. She won a silver medal at her first World Cup event in China. This win helped her earn a spot in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. At those Olympics, she finished in 10th place after a difficult landing.
In December 2014, Ashley competed in Beijing and won a gold medal. Her teammate, Kiley McKinnon, won silver at the same event.
Making History
Ashley Caldwell is known for trying difficult tricks. At the 2017 World Championship in Sierra Nevada, Spain, she made history. She became the first female skier to successfully land a "quadruple twisting triple back flip." This is a very complex and dangerous jump! Ashley won the event, and her teammate Jonathon Lillis also won.
Olympic Gold Medal
Ashley continued to compete at the highest level. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, she was part of Team USA. She won a gold medal in the mixed team aerials event. Her team's final score was 338.34, which was enough for the gold!
