Astrid Smeplass (born on October 29, 1996), known as Astrid S, is a singer and songwriter from Norway. She became famous after appearing on the Norwegian TV show Idol in 2013. In 2020, she released her first album, called Leave It Beautiful.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Astrid grew up in a small village in Norway. She started playing piano and flute when she was young. But she soon found that she liked writing her own songs more. She learned to play the guitar and was inspired by the musician John Mayer. When she was 13, Astrid also learned to speak English.
Astrid S's Music Journey
Astrid Smeplass released her first song, "Shattered," in 2013. This was after she was on Idol. She then signed a deal with a music publishing company. In 2014, she released her first song as "Astrid S," called "2AM." She also covered the song "FourFiveSeconds" by Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney.
In 2016, Astrid S released the popular song "Hurts So Good." This song was part of her first collection of songs, called an EP, titled Astrid S. She also went on tour with the singer Troye Sivan. The next year, she released her second EP, Party's Over. In 2017, Astrid S sang backup vocals for the American singer Katy Perry on her song "Hey Hey Hey."
More Music and Awards
In 2017, Astrid S covered a song for the TV show Skam. She performed this song at an awards show. On June 30, 2017, she released her second EP, Party's Over. It included the songs "Breathe" and "Such a Boy." A few weeks later, an acoustic version of the EP came out. It also had a new song called "Mexico."
Her song "Think Before I Talk" became very popular in Sweden and Denmark. In February 2018, Astrid S won the Spellemann of the Year award. This is a big music award in Norway. She was the first female artist to win it since 2003.
After releasing the song "Emotion," Astrid S toured with Years & Years in the UK. She also supported Zara Larsson on her US tour in 2019. In April 2019, Astrid became the face of a campaign for the fashion brand Fendi. She also joined climate activist Greta Thunberg at a "Fridays For Future" event in Sweden. There, she sang a cover of "I Want to Know What Love Is."
In August 2019, her fourth EP, Trust Issues, was released. It featured songs like "Someone New" and "Emotion." In 2020, Astrid S worked with country singer Brett Young on the song "I Do." This song reached number three in Norway. In September 2020, Astrid S announced her first full album, Leave It Beautiful. It was released on October 16, 2020. The album included songs like "Dance Dance Dance" and "It's Ok If You Forget Me."
In 2021, Astrid S was given credit as a co-songwriter for the song "How You King?" by French Montana. This was because parts of her song "Jump" were similar.
Acting and Recent Work
In 2021, Astrid S played Cinderella in Tre nøtter til Askepott. This was a Norwegian remake of an old film. For the movie, she also released her first original song in Norwegian, "Når Snøen Smelter."
On July 2, 2025, she sang Norway's national anthem. This was before a big football match between Switzerland and Norway at the Women's Euros.
