Getting Around Athol
Athol has an important road called the Gore Highway. This highway helps people travel through the area. Part of the Gore Highway near Athol is now part of the Toowoomba Bypass. Another section is known as the Toowoomba Athol Road.
Athol's History
Athol once had its own school! It first opened on 25 July 1887 as Westbrook Provisional School. In 1903, its name changed to Athol Provisional School. It became Athol State School on 1 October 1910. The school closed its doors on 20 July 1962. It was located where Athol School Road and Berghofer Road meet.
