The Story of Bahrs Scrub
The name "Bahrs Scrub" tells us that this area was once covered in thick bushland. The word "scrub" means dense bushes and small trees.
The name "Bahrs" might come from early German settlers, Carl Wilhelm Bahr and his son, Wilhelm Bahr. However, some old records call the area "Jimmybark Scrub" and a nearby hill "Bark Hill." This hill is now known as Bahrs Hill. So, the current name might have changed over time from these older names.
A school called Bahr's Scrub State School opened around July 1919. Sadly, it closed in 1929 because not enough students were attending.
