Where is Holmview?

Holmview is located in Queensland, Australia. It is about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) north-west of Beenleigh. It is also about 32 kilometers (20 miles) south-east of central Brisbane, a major city.

The suburb has natural borders. Gardiner Road is to the west. Wuraga Road forms its southern edge. A small part of the Logan River makes up its northern boundary.

Getting Around Holmview

The Beenleigh railway line runs through Holmview. It enters from the north-west, near Edens Landing. Then it leaves towards the north-east, heading to Beenleigh. Logan River Road also crosses the suburb. It goes from west to east.

Most of the land in Holmview is used for homes. You will see many houses on suburban-sized blocks. However, some areas still have larger rural homes. There are also places where crops are grown or animals graze.

Holmview's Story

Holmview got its name from a railway station. This station was built in 1885. The railway line to Beenleigh opened in July 1885. The station was mentioned in railway timetables as early as 1886.

Holmview was officially named a "locality" on May 1, 1975. Later, on February 7, 2003, it became a "suburb." Even though the suburb is called Holmview, the original railway station is now actually located in Beenleigh.

In 1980, the cattle yards from Beenleigh moved to Holmview. This was an important change for the area. A church, Eden Landing's Seventh Day Adventist Church, was built here in 1990.
