Bajram Rexhepi (born June 3, 1954 – died August 21, 2017) was an important politician from Kosovo. He became the first elected prime minister of Kosovo after a big conflict. Later, he also served as the interior minister. He was a member of a major political group called the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

Early Life and Education
Bajram Rexhepi was born in Mitrovica, Kosovo, on June 3, 1954. He studied at the University of Prishtina. He then continued his advanced studies at the University of Zagreb in 1985.
Helping Kosovo After the War
Before becoming a politician, Rexhepi worked as a surgeon. During the 1999 Kosovo War, he joined the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). He spent three months helping people as a field doctor.
After the war, he became the mayor of the Albanian part of Mitrovica. He worked closely with the United Nations and NATO peacekeepers. His goal was to help calm down the disagreements between different groups.
Becoming Prime Minister
In November 2001, Kosovo held its first general elections. Rexhepi's political party, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, came in second place. On March 4, 2002, the Assembly of Kosovo chose Bajram Rexhepi to be the prime minister.
He was chosen as a leader who could bring different parties together. This helped form a government that included many political groups. Even though the UN still had some power, Rexhepi's government worked to rebuild Kosovo.
Serving as Interior Minister
On April 1, 2010, Rexhepi was given a new important job. He became the Minister of Internal Affairs for Kosovo. This role meant he was in charge of things like police and public safety. He continued in this position until 2014.
Later Years and Legacy
In 2014, Bajram Rexhepi decided to leave politics. He went back to working as a surgeon, helping people with medical care.
In April 2017, he became very ill and fell into a coma. After getting some treatment in Kosovo, he was moved to a hospital in Turkey. Bajram Rexhepi passed away on August 21, 2017, at the age of 63. He is remembered as a key leader in Kosovo's history.
