What the Centre Does
The Baptist Centre plays a very important part in the life of the ABC. It also helps the wider community. This building is a great example of a modern church centre. It has many different uses.
Leaders from other Christian groups often visit the Centre. They come from all over Europe. The Centre is the biggest Christian resource in the Lisburn area. Many evangelical churches use its facilities.
About the Building
The Baptist Centre is a large building. It covers an area of about 4,300 square meters (14,000 square feet). It was built specifically for its purpose. It holds training areas and offices for administration.
The Centre is easy to reach. It is located just off the M1 motorway. This is near the town of Moira.
The Baptist Theological Centre
The Baptist Theological Centre is a key part of the Baptist Centre. It is where the Irish Baptist College is located. The college trains people for Christian service.
Future Plans for Growth
There is empty land behind the Centre. This land offers plenty of room for the building to grow. The association and the college have been getting bigger. Because of this, there were plans for new buildings.
These plans included an extension to the Baptist Theological Centre. This would add more space for the library, archives, and study areas. The plans were approved in October 2008. However, in 2009, the plans for a new library building were put on hold. This was because of money problems faced by the IBC and ABC. Some students and staff were not happy about this decision.
Where is the Centre Located?
The Baptist Centre has an interesting location. It can be said to be in three different counties.
- It is in Moira, which is in County Down. The ABCI often says it is in County Down.
- Its full address includes Craigavon as its post town. Craigavon is in County Armagh. So, some say it is in County Armagh.
- The Centre's exact location is also within County Antrim. This means it is also correct to say it is in County Antrim.
