Bark Ranch is found in the western part of Boulder County. It sits in the Front Range, which is the easternmost part of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Imagine it on a high piece of land, or a ridge. This ridge is west of a town called Jamestown. It is also south of a stream named South St. Vrain Creek.
A road called Overland Road runs along the northern side of the community. This road goes east towards Jamestown and Altona. If you go west on Overland Road, you'll reach State Highway 72, also known as the Peak to Peak Highway. The Bark Ranch CDP covers an area of about 2.26 square kilometers (or 557 acres).
